Land east of Station Lane, Kingswood

Access from Kingswood Close

We are proposing to provide vehicle, pedestrian and cycle access to the proposed development from Kingswood Close.  This would be the only access to the site for non-emergency vehicles.

Kingswood Close is currently a cul-de-sac, with the existing carriageway terminating at the site’s boundary.  The carriageway widens to provide informal parking for residents as well as turning space for vehicles, and this arrangement would be retained and formalised as part of the proposed access works.  To create the new access, we propose to simply extend the existing carriageway and footways into the site.

The scale of the proposed development would typically result in about 1-2 extra vehicle movements per minute along Kingswood Close during the AM and PM peak hours.  However, the proximity of the site to Lapworth Station means that railway travel is a viable and realistic option in this location, and our proposals seek to encourage rail use by creating new foot and cycle links between the site and the station.

If the proposals are approved, it is likely that Kingswood Close would serve as the access for construction traffic.  While the impacts of this would be time limited, the developer would undertake a before-and-after condition survey of the Kingswood Close carriageway and remediate any detrimental impacts caused by construction-related activity.
