Land east of Station Lane, Kingswood

Our proposals would provide additional pedestrian, cycle and emergency vehicle access direct from Station Lane, using land in the south-west corner of the site.

 

It is acknowledged that there is currently no footway along Station Lane for much of its length, with the footway up from the station on the western side coming to an end just before No. 145 Station Lane. We are therefore proposing to extend this footway up as far as No. 167 Station Lane to provide a direct pedestrian connection to the site, providing access for future residents and an improvement for existing residents who are currently required to walk on the carriageway.

The footway would be created entirely within the limits of the adopted public highway, which have been confirmed by Warwickshire County Council.  For the majority of the route, the footway would be 1.5 metres in width, with the exception of a small stretch which will reduce to 1.2 metres in width to protect the existing tree in front of No. 147 Station Lane.  Further, to facilitate the delivery of the footway there would need to be some minor realignment of the carriageway on its eastern side to maintain a 5.5 metre carriageway width; again this would take place entirely within highway land.

 

To ensure the route could be used throughout the year, the footway would be constructed of a bound surface, using less intrusive construction methods to reduce potential impacts on tree roots and also property boundaries where necessary.  The construction of the footway would result in some disruption to residents of Station Lane; however, the developer of the site would ensure all affected properties are contacted prior to the implementation of works to safeguard access during the building of the footway.
